I don't know if you'll find this funny, but I do because it's stupid. Anyway, some people who don't know much about Hawaii ask very stupid questions so I'm going to post some down. Oh yeah, I'm getting this stuff from gaia, I'm in a guild and we were talking about this. xD So remember. Most of these are not what I have posted.
1. Question: If you're from Hawaii, how did you get access to a computer?
Answer: -_- Everyone has one? Because we live in a modern-day society with buildings and technology and the like, just like everyone else in the United States?!
2. Question: Wow! You speak wonderful english! Where'd you learn?
Answer: It's the main language most people tend to speak here... you know, because English is what most people speak in the US?
Quote:| ..this is somewhat part of the answer/question thing above. |
|
Alternate Answer: Oh...actually, i don't speak english. stupid person: really? hawaiian: yeah stupid person: oh, that sucks hawaiian: i know, it makes it really hard for me to communicate with the rest of the world stupid person: oh, well maybe i should try learning hawaiian so we can talk some more hawaiian: yeah...um...you do that stupid person: aloha? ohana? lilo & stitch? hawaiian:
Stupid Question from Tourists: Tourist: How do you get to Wai'ale'ale peak (as seen on Lilo & Stitch the Series)? Local person: Wai'ale'ale is really steep and cannot be driven up to. Plus only helicopters can bring you up there. Tourist: Oh. Well how do I get to Kokaua town (Town Lilo and Stitch live in)? Hawaiian: There is no town named Kokaua town on Kauai. And there is no museum on Kauai either or a giant pineapple water tower. Kokaua isn't an actual Hawaiian name either. Tourist: But then what about all the stuff mentioned in Lilo and Stitch? Hawaiian: Lilo and Stitch is placed on Kauai but only two area's are properly named; Kilauea Lighthouse and Wai'ale'ale everything else is completely made up. Tourist: Okay! Mahalo! That means good bye right? Hawaiian: it means thank you. Aloha is good bye. Tourist: but I though it means hello? Hawaiian: It means both. I'm going.
Person: So do you, like, wear grass skirts and stuff? Like traditional Hawaiians?
Hawaiian:NO. You know what? I wear jeans, like a normal person. And you know what else?! The real Hawaiians didn't wear grass skirts! The men wore loin cloth and the women wore skirts and no tops!!! >.<
Person: ... was it a grass skirt?
Hawaiian: o_e ...no... *...must...resist...urge to...beat...up...*
malahini: Do you guys drink coconuts all day? Kamaina: No we drink juice, soda, and just about everything everyone drinks. malahini: oh. So i coconut milk something you drink Kamaina: *sigh* go up to the strongest guy you and say that their hupo and they'll run up the nearest coconut tree bring a coconut down and cut it open for you. Malahini:thank You! I'll try it! Kamaina: no problem (hehehe sucker)
Mainland Client: When my flight lands at the airport you'll send someone to get me? My mom: Yes. It's no problem. ^^ Mainland Client: So will I need a passport? My mom: ...what? You only need one when you travel outside the country. o_O Mainland Client: Well, I'm going to Hawaii right? So don't I need a passport? My mom: ...um... ^^;; We're the 50th state... Mainland Client: REALLY?! wow... Well, thanks for the information ^^ I'll call you back tomorrow at 3 to get the rest of the billing info ^^ My mom: No problem! Bye now! ^^ *hangs up* ...PASSPORT?! geez... was that supposed to be SERIOUS >.< ugh...
Tourist: (stepping off the plane) HEY ! Where's my complementary Lei? Worker: dude this isn't the 1950's anymore. Tourist: So? I want a Lei! Worker: There's a gift shop right in the airport, go get one yourself. Tourist: Oh, do you know where to learn how do take hula lessons. Worker: No. Hula is a very sacred art. The real lessons are reserved for kamaina only Tourist: Man this place is lame, I lost two things already cool I though about Hawaii. This place sucks! Worker: *must...not...pummel...stupid...tourist...into...pavement*
Me: yes i'm hawaiian, but i'm not hawaiian just because i was born in hawaii. i'm hawaiian because my ancestors were the first people to come to hawaii. friends: oh, so if my ancestors were the first ppl to come to New York, then does that make me a new york-ian? me: -_- no. you're latino because your ancestors were the people who first settled in mexico. my blood is hawaiian like your blood is mexican friend: *slightly confused look* oh... OK ! me: you don't really get it do you? friends: NOPE ! me: whatev!
Person: Oh, I live in Canada. Me: I live in Hawaii? Person: Do you dance hula? Me: Yeah, actually. Random Guy: Hula girls are hot. Me: Must. Resist. Urge. To. Kill. Retarded. Idiot.

I've got one!
Stupid Tourist (In Monterey, California): Is that Hawaii? *points off coast to Monterey Californian: Uh, no. Stupid Tourist: Really? Californian: Yeah, you can't see Hawaii from California. Tourist: Oh... You can't?
Yep, true story, my parents witnessed it when they went to Monterey back when we lived in California. What the tourist thought was Hawaii was actually just part of the continent curling back around but you couldn't tell because it was foggy.

You know. I think the reason why people think people from Hawaii wear grass skirts, is because some other Pacific islands, for example, Tahiti, wear things that a tourist might think of. o_o;;
